Description
A comforting, low-effort baked brie appetizer featuring caramelized pears, spiced honey, and toasted nuts, perfect for self-care and cozy evenings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 wheel Brie cheese (approx. 8–10 oz / 225-280g)
- 2 medium pears (Bartlett or Bosc), sliced into wedges
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp mild honey (divided)
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp ground cardamom
- 1 small baguette or crusty bread, sliced
- 1/4 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped
- Pinch of flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash pears and slice into thin wedges, removing the core.
- Heat butter in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat until foaming.
- Add pear slices in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 2 minutes until golden brown edges form.
- Flip pears, sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom, and drizzle with half the honey.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes until tender and glazed, then remove pears from pan and set aside.
- Place the brie wheel in the center of the skillet (remove wax coating if present).
- Cut an ‘X’ into the top of the brie, cutting about 1/2 inch deep.
- Spoon caramelized pears around and on top of the brie.
- Drizzle remaining honey over everything and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until cheese is soft and jiggly but holds its shape.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes to allow cheese to thicken.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and serve immediately with toasted bread.
Notes
Do not skip the resting time; fresh baked brie is molten and needs 5 minutes to set. Toast bread separately to maintain crunch. If using a non-oven-safe dish, caramelize pears in a separate pan first. Leftovers do not store well as texture changes.
