Description
A simple, no-cook charcuterie board featuring smoked sausage, sharp cheddar, pickles, and spicy mustard. Designed for minimal effort and maximum comfort, this snack requires zero heat and offers a perfect balance of smoky, salty, and tangy flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) smoked sausage (such as kielbasa)
- 8 oz (225g) sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup (120g) spicy brown mustard
- 1 cup (150g) sliced dill pickles
- 2 cups (160g) sturdy crackers (seeded crackers, rye crisps, or toasted baguette slices)
- 1/2 cup (100g) fig jam or honey (optional)
Instructions
- Slice the smoked sausage into diagonal pieces about 1/4 inch thick, or separate pre-sliced rings and fan them out. Place in a pile on one side of the board.
- Cube the sharp cheddar into 1-inch pieces or slice into triangles. Scatter the cheese around the board, distributing it evenly near the sausage.
- Stack or fan out the crackers in the center or along one edge of the board, leaving room for bowls.
- Place small bowls on the board and fill them with the spicy brown mustard, sliced pickles, and fig jam (if using). Nestle the bowls in the empty spaces between the sausage and crackers.
- Add final touches by filling any gaps with extra crackers or pickles. Let the cheese and sausage sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before serving for best flavor.
Notes
For best flavor, let the cheese and sausage come to room temperature for 20 minutes before serving. Do not crowd the board; leave negative space for a curated look. If the sausage is too salty, balance it with a sweet element like fig jam or apple slices. Crackers should be stored separately from the assembled board to prevent sogginess.
